The Gators football team plays its home games at the Ben Hill Griffith Stadium at Florida Field, commonly referred to as "The Swamp". The Gators have been playing in The Swamp since 1930 and have posted a record of 249-84-13 (.738) in that time. Against the SEC, the Gators have posted a 113-50-7 (.685) mark.
The stadium can hold approximately 83,000 and includes 46 skyboxes. The largest crowd to see a game was in 2001 when 85,771 saw the Gators vs. Tennessee. The longest winning streak in the stadiums' history is 27 games (Oct. 29, 1994 to the present). Prior to the 2001 season, a $50 million construction project began to expand the press level, add chairback seats on a new club level, renovate existing suites and add additional luxury suites. The press level will be expanded to more than 200 working press seats and six TV/radio booths. More than 2,900 chairback seats, dubbed the "Champions Club" will be added on the west side of the stadium. Twenty-eight existing suites will be renovated and an additional 28 suites will be built. The entire project, built with no state money, will be complete just prior to the 2003 football season. The Gators main rivals are Miami, Florida State, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Alabama and Georgia.
